SOLAR POWER PLANT TESTING

Plant testing is one of the most important aspects of a project Life Cycle. Developers, EPC's and O&M companies sometime skip the electrical testing part to save on money, which most of the time comes to bite their back in terms of string failures, burning of modules etc...

Valkan offers a series of Pre-Commissioning & Post Commissioning testing which will enable to monitor the health of a solar power plant regularly.

Pre - Commissioning testing:

It is now mandated by various reputed developers to perform Pre-Commissioning plant testing to ensure the plant doesnt face any critical electrical issues after commissioning.

The key aspect of the Pre-Commissioning testing is to do an I-V curve tracing analysis on individual strings. If the strings exhibit any deviation in power and voltage compared to other strings, then those strings are isolated and individual panels are then tested.

Equipments Used:

1 - PV 200 / PV 210 (Seaward Solar)

2 - HV000IVE 500 W - 1500 V Tester (HT Instruments)

Post - Commissioning testing / Root Cause Analysis (RCA):

Most of the solar plants installed between 2010 to 2016 face various technical issues like hotspots, EVA decoloration, burnt diode, snail trails etc... Asset Managers and Acquisition experts on buying a solar plant want Root Cause Analysis to be done, to estimate the current and future worth of it. And thats where we come in !

The key aspects of RCA are I-V Curve Testing, drone/handheld thermal imaging test, Insulation testing and Earth resistance testing. These tests give us a fair idea on the current state of the plant and the longevity of each component subjected to test.

Equipments Used:

1 - PV 200 / PV 210 (Seaward Solar)

2 - HV000IVE 500 W - 1500 V Tester (HT Instruments)

3 - Thermal Imaging Camera (FLIR)

4 - Insulation Resistance Tester (Fluke)

5 - Earth Resistance tester (Fluke)
